Traditional cloth dolls

Olga has studied traditional color painting on wood for many years. Her remarkable works has been showed with success at many folk craft exhibitions. She teaches courses of traditional painting in the Russian Ethnographic museum.

Olga knew about traditional cloth doll crafting several years ago. Acquaintance to a traditional toy has turned her creativity on very new way. The traditional doll is the whole world. If you came in this world it is not possible to leave it. The doll accompanies with the person during whole his life, passing a way from a children's toy up to the adult souvenir. A sacral and game sides are very close in the national doll and probably that is the most attractive to the artist. Simple aesthetics of a folk doll allow to display brightly and authentically the world of people, not suppressing the spectator meticulous study of all details, and, on the contrary, leaving open space to his imagination.

This combination of simplicity of the form and depth of the content is most attractive for Olga in a national doll. Having started with studying and copying of museum samples, she has gradually passed to creation of the author's dolls based on the same simple and expressive receptions of fulfilling. Olga has created several thematic collections of the dolls exposed in the Petersburg galleries.
